Specifications:

Device model: Zwick / Roell Z050
Manufacturer: Zwick
Country of manufacture: Germany
Software name used: Testxpert

Description of test:

Tensile test is the most basic type of physical and mechanical properties test that is performed on a sample and determines how the sample reacts to the applied force. This device provides the user with stress-strain properties using three different methods of tension, pressure and bending in the form of diagrams.

Services available:

  • Stress-strain curve
  • Determine the elastic range
  • Determination of elastic modulus
  • Determination of yield stress
  • Determine the strain in failure
  • Determine the strength of a material
  • Toughness measurement

Sample preparation:

Depending on the type of test, the dimensions of the sample are in accordance with the standard and at least 5 of each sample are required.

Applicable standards:

  • ASTM D638      Standard Test Method for Tensile Properties of Plastics
  • ASTM D882      Standard Test Method for Tensile Properties of Thin Plastic Sheeting
  • ASTM D790      Standard Test Method for Flexural Properties of Unreinforced and Reinforced Plastics and Electrical Insulating Materials
  • ASTM D695      Standard Test Method for Compressive Properties of Rigid Plastics
  • ASTM D3039    Standard Test Method for Tensile Properties of Polymer Matrix Composite
  • ASTM D7264    Standard Test Method for Flexural Properties of Polymer Matrix Composite Materials

Limitations:

Possibility to use two load cells, with a force of 10 and 50 kN
